Privacy Policy
This policy explains how SpotMe (“we”, “us”) looks after your personal information when you register your interest or contact us through this sign-up page. SpotMe launches soon. Once you create an account, the privacy policy for the full SpotMe service applies as well.
Who we are
SpotMe is the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us through our contact page.
What we collect
- When you register your interest: your name, email address, the type of gym you choose (and what you type if you choose “Other”), which button or gym you clicked to open the form, whether you secured an early-bird spot, and the date and time you registered.
- When you contact us: your name, email address, the subject you pick and your message.
- When you visit this page: our web host keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) for security and to keep the page running. We don’t use analytics or advertising cookies on this page.
How we use it, and why
- To email you about SpotMe’s launch and your early-bird offer, and to give early-bird spots to the first 100 people to register. Spots are assigned automatically, in the order registrations arrive. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give by ticking the box on the form.
- To read and reply to your messages. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who get in touch.
- To keep this page secure and working (server logs). Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable page.
We don’t sell your information, we don’t use it for advertising, and we don’t pass it to other companies for their own marketing.
Who handles your information
We use service providers to run this page. Hostinger hosts the page and the database that stores sign-ups, and an email provider delivers messages sent through the contact form. They only handle your information to provide those services to us. Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where that happens, we use providers that apply appropriate safeguards under UK data protection law.
Other services this page loads
To display the page, your browser also fetches files from the services below. Each of them can see your IP address and browser details when it does. We don’t receive or store that information.
- Google Fonts, for typefaces
- unpkg, for the open-source Leaflet map library
- OpenStreetMap, for map tiles
- Google Firebase, for the gym data shown on the map
- postcodes.io, only if you use the postcode search, to turn a postcode into a map location (we don’t store it)
Cookies and local storage
This page doesn’t set analytics or advertising cookies. Your browser may keep a small amount of data on your device so the map works, such as the last gym you selected. That stays on your device and isn’t sent to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your sign-up details until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them to contact you about the launch. We keep contact messages for as long as we need to deal with your enquiry and keep a record of it.
Your rights
You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to restrict or stop using it, or ask for it to be moved to another provider. You can also withdraw your consent to emails at any time, and our emails will tell you how to unsubscribe. To do any of this, contact us and tell us the email address you registered with.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Children
This page isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The latest version is always on this page, with the date it was last updated at the top. See also our Terms and Conditions.
